I’m working on a few things!
Mi Autohistoria
Chicana: An Autohistoria has been in the works for the last few years. This book is part memoir, part madness, and entirely nourishing. I am so excited for you all to read it!
About the Book: This book is an autohistoria – an attempt at making meaning of Chicana daily life in the so-called U.S. Grounded in Chicana Feminism and queer decolonial politic, this book emphasizes relationships and the quotidian as sites for radical transformation. Each chapter reflects the struggles, pleasures, and dreams of a fat queer displaced Chicana learning to practice freedom. Through research, narrative, and poetry, this book maps how power, domination, and love shape Chicanx and Latinx lives.
Queering Latinidad Project
The Queering Latinidad Project (QLP) continues! I’m expanding on my dissertation work with a series of pláticas with mujeres, femmes, and cuir folk based in the PNW.
About the Project: This study aims to understand: 1) how Chicanxs/Latinxs and their communities experience and relate to colonization and systemic oppression, and 2) engage in liberatory and transformative practices. I approach this study through a lens of radical self-love, joy, liberation, and decolonization grounded within queer, feminist, and spiritual texts. I am especially interested in expanding conversations among our communities on transformative health practices around grief, joy, and healing.
